This is a collection of audio recordings produced by Clayton McDonald between March 2011 and November 2018. The collection consists of information and knowledge with progressive perspectives provided by academics, scientists, activists, politicians, protesters, authors, journalists, analysts and community members; about social, environmental, political and economic issues that deeply affect all of us.
Clayton provided audio engineering and radio broadcasting of the Australia Institute’s popular Politics in the Pub events in Canberra, and associated podcasts, from the initiation of the events in February 2010 until May 2021.
He volunteered as a producer and presenter with the Behind The Lines current affairs activist programme on 2XXfm 98.3 community radio in Canberra from 2008 to 2018.
Clayton’s community radio volunteer work began in 1983 at Brisbane’s 4ZZZ radio station during the height of the Bjelke-Petersen regime. He presented 4ZZZ’s Brisbane Line – a current affairs program produced by the courageous, persistent, professional and effective 4ZZZ Newsroom – broadcasting the voices of reality and resistance during the gloomiest days of that time in Queensland politics.
From 1983 until 2019 Clayton participated in organising many community events that drew thousands of people into activity and protest over the challenging issues threatening our communities, ecosystems, politics, economies – and climate.
Clayton’s career in the Australian Public Service spanned 33 years from 1989 to 2022 with an enduring commitment to support our communities through the building, implementation and delivery of essential government services.
Clayton lives with his wife and creative collaborator Sara Vancea – a musician and writer – in Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Together they create and release avant-pop songs and electronic dance music.
